A little bit about us.....
The Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department consists of local community members. Currently, we have 21 firefighters but are always in need of new members. The Department responds to a variety of emergency situations as well as medical emergencies and mutual aid response. We are committed to helping our community, and are on call 24/7/365!
Our training takes place every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm. We encourage anyone who may be interested to stop by any Tuesday evening and see what is involved. You can also pick up an application at the Village office. It is a big time commitment but the rewards of helping out your community are wonderful.....and we are a fun bunch to hang out with too! If you would like more information about becoming a firefighter or our junior firefighter program, visit our contact us page and we will fill you in. |
"Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire Can Happen Anywhere". This year’s FPW campaign, “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere,” works to educate people about three basic but essential steps to take to reduce the likelihood of having a fire––and how to escape safely in the event of one: LOOK Look for places fire could start. Take a good look around your home. Identify potential fire hazards and take care of them. LISTEN Listen for the sound of the smoke alarm. You could have only minutes to escape safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Go to your outside meeting place, which should be a safe distance from the home and where everyone should know to meet. LEARN Learn two ways out of every room and make sure all doors and windows leading outside open easily and are free of clutter. |
