We are always looking for Volunteers, Firefighters of course, as well as volunteers for our Dorchester Volunteer Fire Department Association. Members of the Association are both Firefighters and local community members. The association is responsible for fundraising for the Fire Department and also helps out in emergency situations with food, supplies, etc for Firefighters and wherever else it is needed during an emergency. The association meets once a month to discuss upcoming events, fundraisers, etc. We are always in need of help as fundraising is a big job.

The fire department participates in community events as well as firefighting events. In 2011 our women firefighters won gold in the regional championship at the Scott Firefit competition held in Moncton, NB. They then participated in the National Championships held in Medicine Hat, AB. The women did us proud by returning home with a silver metal in the relay division.

Every year the Fire Department participate with the students during Fire Prevention Week. This year the firefighters went to the school, did a demonstration for the kids and filled them in on Fire Safety. The children all participated by completing their own fire escape plan and sharing it with their families. Prizes such as smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and emergency lights were awarded to the participating students. Go DCS!
